The ENN 14ers Mountaineering Group is a great way to get some high adventure, enjoy the Colorado mountains, meet new people, and visit with old friends. The goal of each trip is to summit one of Colorado’s famous 14ers.
Previous climbing experience is not required. Nor do you need to be an Olympic athlete.
The ENN 14ers Mountaineering Group is organized as follows:
• We will typically hike on Saturday mornings. The climbing season typically runs from May through the end of October; snow conditions may allow an earlier start or delay the start. On a weekly basis, we might occasionally pick a different day due to weather or other circumstances.
• Our meeting times are prompt. To avoid afternoon monsoons, we will be starting early. For trips to nearby 14ers, we will have a 6:00 AM meeting time. We typically leave for the trailhead right at the selected time.
• Generally, climbs are 5 to 10 miles in length round-trip and have elevation gains between 2000′ and 3000′. These distance and elevation gain figures are guidelines, not rules. Some climbs will fall outside these guidelines.
• At the beginning of the climbing season, due to the snowpack, micro-spikes on your boots will likely be required. Most years, we’ll be able to forego the micro-spikes by mid-July. For each climb, we will provide the distance and elevation change to help you decide whether you want to join the trip.
• A small pack with food, water, and rain gear is highly recommended, ideally also pack the ten essentials.
Please contact the SHG Leaders to join the group and/or with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
