VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Our annual effort to help stock the EChO firewood lot is coming up fast! We have a lot of potential donors – approximately double the donors in 2025 – that would love to have their wood go to help EChO’s clients keep their homes warm this winter.

To get all this wood to EChO we need your help:

Saturday, September 19th: Teams go to each donation site and get the wood ready to transport to EChO. While some donations are ready to go (wood is cut and stacked adjacent to the roads), others have wood that needs to be cut and moved to the staging areas. Volunteers will move wood, chainsaw wood, and stack it. We especially need chainsaws & people that can use them safely.
Saturday, September 26th: We need teams to collect the firewood from each site and take it to EChO. Pickups & trailers will be needed for transporting all the wood to EChO.

Can you help? A number of members have already signed up (THANK YOU!) but more help is certainly needed. Please email Rebecca Balentine as soon as possible so we can get our teams organized.

For both newcomers and long-time neighbors, volunteering in our community is a wonderful way to meet new people and to provide much-needed assistance to our town’s many non-profit organizations. We are fortunate to have a large number of active groups that provide a range of support to many segments of our community. Volunteer opportunities are available from the groups listed below and involvement can vary from occasional help to on-going commitments, and from stocking shelves to working on organizational boards. Check out the links below to see if there are opportunities that fit with your time and interests.

Along with our individual member’s volunteer activities, ENN sponsors two community events per year, currently a fall firewood drive and a spring food drive. Watch for information on these events in upcoming Newsletters!
